The book landed with a muffled thud as it hit the small table that resided next to his bed. The sun was beginning to the set; the sky was becoming a shadow looming over the world allowing some evils to remain hidden. He strolled, casually down the stairs to eat his supper, tonight he had rice with vegetables. The bowl matched the food exactly. A white base with greens and reds creating intricate little patterns. He graciously got up and put his bowl into the sink after he had finished. He was never allowed to wash up since the time when one of his mother’s favourite dishes ended up getting shattered into a thousand crystals covering the vast kitchen floor because he'd gotten distracted and dropped it. He clambered back up the thick wooden stairs and went back into his room and leaped into bed. Slowly he drifted into a peaceful slumber.

Eleanor Rose. Simply perfect. A beauty unmatched. She had luminous brown eyes, muddy brown, that looked at me with so much love and innocence. I felt a smile play across my lips. She was here for me. I reached out to hold her in a warm embrace. Her long, wavy, auburn hair swayed in the summer breeze. Her skin was a golden with the warmth of the sun beams adding to its colour. She was short, no taller than five foot one. I couldn’t believe it, mine at last. The girl I’d always wanted but never had.
We were at the beach. The sound of waves drowned out all the other sounds. The sand caressed my toes, like the purest softest silk, as we strolled down the beach front hand in hand. Her gaze was lingering towards the sea watching the tide come in.
My cream coloured jeans were rolled up to my knees. My white shirt sleeves were folded up to my elbows. I could only glance at the whiteness of my shirt because the sunlight ricocheted off it making it too bright; it brought a paleness to my skin that emphasised my dark featured even more. She wore faded blue jeans, hers also rolled up to her knees, with a simple white vest top that made her eyes glisten in the sunlight. We stopped and I touched her face. I whispered softly to her.
“I love you. I've missed you.”
I really do.
A smile that reached her eyes crept across her face as I pressed my forehead against hers.
“Elijah you don't know how much I've missed you and wanted to be here. I had to go, I'm sorry, but I'm back now.”
“It's okay my love. You're here now.”
I kissed her softly on the lips. Is this what heaven is like?...she's here in my arms...how beautiful is she...does she feel this too...it's getting late...
“We should be going back now.”
“Yes of course, lets go home you.”
She slapped my arm lightly. She looked so happy. In reluctance, slowly, we began to walk home still holding hands.
A caliginous atmosphere surrounded the forest lining both sides of the street as a figure appeared out of the darkness. A tall slender man with long blonde hair. He looked so normal but there was a malignant air lingering around him. He wore an over sized t-shirt that was black and jeans that fit perfectly.
Why was he in front of us? Why is he here at all? Why did he look like he was going to hurt us? The questions wouldn't escape my mind.
Then in an instant all became clear. His upper lip pulled back into a snarl, showing his two fangs waiting to drink our blood. My arms ripped away from her hand and pulled her body behind me. She trembled in fear. She too knew that we were in trouble. I stole a quick glance at her eyes. They were almost pleading with me to let her get hurt instead of me. I couldn’t let that happen.
He darted towards me and threw me to the floor with such force I heard my neck snap and howled in pain. She landed beside me with a scream I could never forget. He played with us both biting me, then her. Again and again and again. I tried to move but I couldn’t. The blood seeped down from my neck drenching my clothes. The searing pain tore through my body.
“You two love each other do ya? Well now it can be forever.” He shouted at us.
“You bastard you. What have you done?” I mumbled as quickly as I could. I tried to shout but a mere whisper came out.
A vicious laugh escaped his lips. Suddenly I felt my body tremble violently as another bout pain surged through me. A pain I’d never felt before.
What was happening? Surely I was dead?
As this was happening he lifted her body and then mine to be hidden deep within the forest sheltered away from the rest of the world.
Why did he do this? Why didn’t he just kill us or allow us to be found?
After ample time the pain abated leaving a new found clarity to life. I staggered to my feet and instantly looked next to me; she lay there looking at me. We were both different, we both knew it. The look in her eyes mirrored mine. Shock. She knew what happened as well as I did. We were both vampires now.
Yes we could be together forever but at what cost? Does she want this?...Did she really want me?...What to do about...How can we get through...Will we still be the same people...In time we will change surely...What about the others...
I was languishing.

My eyes suddenly opened, my mouth was dry just like sandpaper. It was a dream; sweat glistened off my brow as the horror of what I’d seen began to release me. I pulled the heavy, thick blankets off my skin and began another day drained of all energy.
How am I going to look after her when...I can't look after her like this...I'm so tired...She deserves better...
It was time to go and see my mum in hospital.
I kissed her softly on the lips. Is this what heaven is like?...she's here in my arms...how beautiful is she...does she feel this too...it's getting late...

I am going to enjoy this it is an easy read and I feel like I am right there witnessing each event. The warmth of love and the fervor of jealousy. You have captured me, I can't wait to read on.
ReplyDeleteAlicia you have 10 pages use them wisely. If I were you I'd post two or three chapters of your story, leave them for a few days and then put them on pages. More than one chapter to a page.
